PARK WEST GALLERY Park West Gallery, based out of Southfield, Michigan, organizes art auctions on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Norwegian, Carnival, Disney, Holland America, Regent and Oceania cruise ships for guests as they sail around the world.  Auctioning off works by renowned artists such as Picasso and Salvadore DalÍ, the auctions have become a very popular form of entertainment for guests.  Recently however, guests have been less than pleased to find out they have paid more than they would have at other art auctions.  Park West provides potential buyers with estimates from outside appraisers, who base that on the Park West Gallery replacement price, and not the replacement price for a reputable retail art gallery, as is the normal custom.  With buyers unaware of this detail, they believe they are actually getting a deal on the price of the paintings because they are bidding at a cost much lower than the appraised value.  But, in reality they are paying much more than they would elsewhere. Previous buyers have returned home to find out that they have paid a vast amount above what other galleries have auctioned the same, supposed one of a kind or limited edition, work for.  We have filed a class action lawsuit and consumer complaint in the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles.
