Bausch & Lomb's Renu Moisture Loc contact lens solution was pulled from the market on April 10, 2006 after reports of eye infections caused by the solution. Some of those who used the product developed a fungus called Fusarium Keratitis in their eyes. The infection attacks the eyes and may ultimately lead to blindness. The fungus grows within the cornea of the eye and if the infection isn't treated with anti-fungal drug, it can scar the tissue, in some cases causing loss of vision or blindness. Prolonged drug therapy may be necessary to treat the infection. If drugs do not work to treat the infection, surgery may be necessary. Symptoms of a fungal keratitis infection can include:
