Khorrami Pollard & Abir Hosts AIDS Project Los Angeles Fundraiser
- Event raises money for AIDS research and education -
LOS ANGELES, CA - On Thursday, June 4, 2009, Khorrami Pollard & Abir LLP (KPA), a national law firm representing plaintiffs, hosted a cocktail reception to raise awareness and funds for AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA). Held at KPA founding partner Shawn Khorrami's La Canada home, and co-hosted by APLA board member and KPA CEO Alan Strasburg, the event provided attendees with the opportunity to mingle with civic leaders in the Los Angeles Area, including Assemblymember John Perez, while receiving a first-hand update of APLA's current work from Executive Director Craig E. Thompson. The event was attended by more than 75 people.
"It was an honor to host this event to help raise money for such an urgent and necessary cause," said Mr. Khorrami. "APLA's mission is not only to research ways to cure HIV and AIDS, but to educate today's youth on ways to prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS. Though it has received less press lately, AIDS is still a prevalent issue in the United States with HIV rates rising in some demographics, and we believe it is our duty to help APLA continue its life-saving HIV prevention work."
